Lancashire supported living service Affinity played a role in the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations recently, joining a colourful procession passing through Accrington.
Affinity was approached by rights group Disability Equality North West to take part in the procession past the Queen, Duke of Edinburgh and local officials when Her Majesty visited Accrington recently.
The procession included local charity organisations, military personnel past and present and other organisations which serve the local area. The Queen watched from Accrington Town Hall as the parade passed through the town, starting and finishing at St James’ Church.
Affinity operations manager, Victoria Beardsworth, was joined by Stephen and Stuart, who are both cared for by Affinity’s Clayton-Le-Moors service. Victoria said: “The procession was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us all, and both Stephen and Stuart were delighted to take part. “The town was full of people joining in the celebrations, and to be part of the parade itself was something we’ll all never forget.”
