Everyone at Affinity places great importance on helping those we support continue to live their lives as they wish to.
Recently we supported Craig to plan and take a holiday. Here he writes about what it meant to him to go away, and how much he enjoyed it:
I had to save money for more than 12 months to be able to afford my holiday, and at times I found it difficult as I had to budget my money.
When I had enough cash I visited a local travel agent to pick up some brochures. With advice from the travel agent and my support staff I was able to find a holiday that suited my needs and my budget. In the end I chose a resort in Portugal which was a new country for me.
I sometimes find it difficult when faced with new places, especially if they involve crowds of people. Stairs and
escalators can also present problems for me as I become anxious when using them. I was involved in drawing up care plans to deal with these situations.
The day came when we set off to Portugal, first by taxi to Manchester airport then by plane to Faro – all went well. Our hotel was great and the weather was as well. I enjoyed my time there relaxing in the sunshine and visiting various places.
Holidays have to end sometime and the return journey went well with some assistance from the airport staff. I am now saving and planning for my next holiday!
