At Affinity we know how important it is for the people we support to live the life they want, and recently we helped a very special lady celebrate her 50th birthday in style.

One of Amanda’s goals has always been to travel to London for a couple of days for her 50th, and she was supported to do this by her keyworker, Sharon Rigby.

Travelling on the day of her birthday to London Euston, Amanda arrived at her city centre hotel by taxi, and enjoyed three days of sightseeing, shows and shopping before returning to the North West.

Highlights included shopping on Oxford Street for gifts for her family, a meal at a Garfunkel’s Restaurant where staff sang Happy Birthday, and a visit to Buckingham Palace.

On day two Amanda and Sharon travelled to the Lyceum Theatre to watch The Lion King musical, and thanks to a misunderstanding with the seating arrangements, was offered an upgrade to the Royal Box.

During the show, a cast member even joined the pair in the box to sing to the audience from the balcony – what an experience!

After sightseeing at London Bridge, the Tower of London, Big Ben and The London Eye, it was time to head home.

Amanda had a fantastic time and it’s a trip she will cherish for years to come.
