Affinity Supporting People would like to congratulate all those who were honoured in the Hyndburn Community Sports Awards recently.
We sponsored the Service to Disability Sport at the 13th annual awards ceremony, a celebration of local sporting achievements from athletes took place at Accrington Town Hall.
The winner of ‘our’ category was Rachel McHugh, who works on a number of projects to support young people with learning disabilities into participation in sport.
Rachel has been “instrumental in developing activities such as tennis, gym workouts, walking and exercise classes for many young people.” She also helped establish the Spring Into Action community interest group, and Spring Into Sport, an inclusive sports club based at Hyndburn Leisure Centre.
She is a great example of the tireless support and behind-the-scenes work being done in the borough, and the young people she works with could not speak more highly of her.
The awards evening, attended by our Managing Director Donna Briggs, was a lovely event and everyone at Affinity would like to wish Rachel and all those shortlisted for an award ‘well done.’
